Σε κάθε σπίτι σήμερα, ένα από τα σημαντικότερα προβλήματα που αντιμετωπίζουμε, είναι ο λογαριασμός του ηλεκτρικού ρεύματος, ο λογαριασμός ΔΕΗ. Οι αυξήσεις είναι συνεχής και μεγάλες, με αποτέλεσμα ο λογαριασμός να «φουσκώνει» συνεχώς. Ο φωτισμός είναι ένα από τα σημαντικά ενεργειακά μεγέθη στη συνολική ενέργεια που καταναλίσκει ένα σπίτι. Μπορεί να φαίνεται πολλές φορές μικρό σε σχέση με την κατανάλωση άλλων συσκευών, αλλά στην πράξη αποτελεί συνήθως το 30% τουλάχιστον της ολικής ενέργειας που καταναλώνουμε. Waterproof RGB LED Strip Another package from halfway around the planet brought 5 meters of waterproof RGB LED strip , which may be useful for projects like longboard lighting. Not having worked with a waterproof strip before, I snipped off a segment: Waterproof RGB LED Strip – one segment The waterproof coating seems to be a soft silicone or acrylic pour with roughly the consistency of  Gummy Bear tummy , so cutting it off requires a delicate touch to avoid slicing the flex circuit board: Waterproof RGB LED Strip – peeled top It doesn’t actually bond to the circuit board, though, and if you get a sharp blade underneath, can be peeled away. I suspect this means water will eventually make its way into the circuitry and you shouldn’t expect to submerge the strip in a fish tank. Σύγκριση: λάμπες led vs λάμπες οικονομίας.

Εντάξει, πάνω κάτω πλέον όλοι μας ξέρουμε ότι οι  λάμπες led  είναι καλύτερες, αν και σε πολλούς από εμάς, προς το παρόν, μας περνάνε ελαφρώς αδιάφορες και προτιμάμε τις  λάμπες οικονομίας  - φθορισμού.  Αυτό κυρίως λόγω της φωτεινότητας: πολλές λάμπες led που κυκλοφορούν στο εμπόριο, έχουν αρκετά πιο ασθενή φωτισμό σε σχέση με τις άλλες, σε συνδυασμό και με τη διαφορά τιμής.  Οπότε για να μην πάνε τα λεφτά μας χαμένα, θα πρέπει να προσέξουμε τι λάμπες led να πάρουμε.  Ας τα πάρουμε όμως από την αρχή!  Να ξέρετε ότι...  Για να "μετρήσουμε" τη φωτεινότητα μιας λάμπας ή γενικά του φωτός, χρησιμοποιούμε μία μονάδα μέτρησης που ονομάζεται lumen.  Όσο περισσότερα τα lumens ανά watt, τόσο μεγαλύτερη η φωτεινότητα.  Αντίστοιχα, όσο περισσότερα τα watt, τόσο μεγαλύτερη η φωτεινότητα, αλλά και η κατανάλωση ρεύματος.
